7:15 Drop off

Breakfast - yogurt and part of a mauled pancake

8:45 Left for stroller class.

9:00 Super fun stroller class. Like yesterday, when all the other mommies walked laps, I ran stairs. The instructor took Ariel in her stroller and I kept Gwen. She and the boys played quietly so I could do my cardio sadly unhampered. I don't know if it was the stairs or what today, but I got a hard work out in.

10:45 After class we split two slices of pizza and then went to the monthly kids' performance. Today was a magician:

Alex and Adam liked the show, though Alex pointed out that they had seen it before. I think they saw it last December, so that's good memory on Alex's part though it's probably hard to forget a man who turns two doves into a bunny for his final act (and apparently the part most extraordinary to Adam is that there were TWO doves and ONE bunny).

Ariel didn't pay attention to most of the show but she walked between me and the boys and stayed out of trouble.

12:15 Got home. Ariel was asleep and went down for her nap.

While Ariel slept, the boys and I played a rousing game of memory followed by an equally scintillating game of Mexican Train domino capped with a quick game of chess (just me and Alex). I'm happy to admit I won ALL three games, though the Mexican train was kinda like playing against myself since I was doing so much helping. And yes, I do feel better about myself when I beat small children. Now really, how would it help them if I CHEATED to let them win??? I'm really teaching them to be good sports (perhaps a lesson I myself missed out on).

2:30 Ariel woke up sometime during the chess game. Ariel likes chess too, but in the way of steal piecing and lining them up elsewhere. Luckily, by the time she woke we were near the end of the game so there were lots of taken pieces for her and Adam to play with.

Ariel had a second lunch of grilled cheese and apple sauce. She didn't eat much apple sauce but I felt I needed to offer her something not cheese based.

Oh, and I feel that I should mention that I've been cooking dinner all day long. Marianne gave us a soup mix for Christmas and I put it in the crock pot this morning. It's barley lentil with morning star sausage substituted for smoked sausage (close enough, right?) I dumped the soup in with water and a can of tomatoes and the "sausage" and that was that. Seem so easy it's like cheating - I need to do it more often.

3:30 Gave in to popular demand and put Return of the Jedi on. The movie didn't capture Ariel's attention for long.

4:00 Read books with Ariel. She told me, "Dee Dee! I wuv you!" Awwww.

4:25 Mama, where ARE you?

4:32 Pick up.

Well, we are off for another long ski weekend, this time with the boys. Wish us luck that it's warmer than -4 and that I don't damage my butt any further.
