Winter Training II

After 2 days in a row on the treadmill, I was ready to run outside, even if it was only 19 degrees. This week and bought some YakTrax to assist me in my winter running. They are like car tire cables, but for your shoes:

And, as advertised, they worked very well on packed snow. It felt very nice to run when the trail looked like this:

Unfortunately, 3 of the 5 miles had new snow drifts (courtesy of the 100 mph gusts of wind the night before) and running in drifts is not easy, no matter what fancy foot gear you have. I plugged along went for a hour, though I posted my slowest run pace EVER, 12:07 minute miles. And you know what, it was still worth it to be outside in the beautiful sunshine.

This morning I did the 6:30 am master's class and it felt great to knock off over 2 miles of swimming before 8:00 am. Now I have all day to prepare for the first night of Hannukah.
