Jan. 18, 2007

So here it is Sunday night and I'm doing Friday's blogging. But I have a good excuse - Friday was extremely busy and I didn't have a chance to do blogging. So a summary of our sorta-fabulous weekend... I guess the story begins Thursday evening when Alex puked all over his bed. Jeremy used his puke-superpowers and cleaned it up so I didn't have to deal with much of it, but it did put a damper on our weekend plans (to be explained in a minute). But Alex woke up fine on Friday so we went ahead with everything...

7:00 Drop off. First, we waved good-bye to Jeremy and his new-to-him 2002 Honda Civic Si. I asked him to pose like a high school student, acting macho and leaning on his car, but this is what I got:

7:10 I made Ariel a new hat. I really wonder if it crossed some line between cute and ridiculous. It is a very silly hat.

7:15 Miss Ariel had breakfast - squash (I was out of fruit, but this seems to bother me more than her) and waffles.

8:30 We left for our adventure of the day, helping with Alex's preschool's field trip to the dinosaur museum (see why I didn't want Alex to be sick?)

9:00 Got to preschool. All the moms gushed over Ariel's hat and were amazed that I made it. Question, did they say nice things because the hat just begs some conversation?

9:30 Left for the dino museum. I had to relive my recurring dream of going back to college but not being able to find my classes. The museum was on campus but I apparently didn't hang out there so I wasn't sure what building it was in. Luckily the teachers knew and we found it.

10:00 Dino museum tour. Much fun! I wasn't expecting much for a college museum but they had a section of dino bones and some grad students did a very nice presentation for the kids. I loved how Adam just jumped in with the class and sat on a teacher's lap and had a great time. And Ariel amused everyone by scooting around in her silly hat.

11:00 My favorite part of the day, going to the UMC student center for lunch. On the walk over, every female student looked at Ariel's hat and many made comment on its cuteness. Ariel totally got into it and was waving at everyone. It was like I was pushing a baby Paris Hilton through campus.

11:30 Lunch at the UMC. Those poor college kids just didn't know what hit them. But our kids did great and even sang their Hebrew blessing over the bread. Ariel ate more than the boys, she had mushed mixed veggies, yogurt and a bagel. While still wearing her hat:

12:00 We got back to preschool. I had intended to stay at preschool so we could go to Shabbat sing, but Ariel fell asleep in the car and the sing wasn't until 12:30 so we ran some errands. First, I went to the bank. Then I dropped off the open enrollment form for both boys to get into Montessori school. Cause today was the deadline and everything and I'm so on top of these things.

12:50 We got back a little late for sing, but I was happy to have gotten those errands done.

1:00 Left school.

1:20 Got home. I had to hurry up and pack because Super Grammie was picking the boys up for the weekend (yet another reason I didn't want Alex to be sick).

1:30 Grammie got to our house. She entertained all three kids while I finished their packing.

2:00 The boys left, I put Ariel down for a nap and started on my packing - for a fun-filled-kidless weekend snowboarding.

2:45 Ariel did not want to nap so I got her up. This packing thing was taking a while because I had to clean up the house too.

4:00 Ariel went home, but the fun didn't stop...

And the rest of our weekend fun - Friday night I puked. NOT FUN. Saturday (after I no longer felt like death warmed over) we sat in front of the TV ALL DAY. We watched 2 episodes of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, 2 episodes of What Not to Wear, 1 Alias, 2 Prison breaks and lots of random things on the history channel and even some ski-cross and snowboarding (wah, what we weren't doing). By the end of the day I was able to keep some oatmeal and toast down.

And Sunday I felt well enough to go snowboarding. We chose Loveland since it would be on the way home. And we were hardcore. It was cold. Before we even started I bought hand warmers. After 3 runs we came inside to warm up and I realized my feet were starting to get frost bite. It brought back memories of another day at Loveland 20 years ago when I ended up in the ski shop under the jacket racks crying because my hands hurt so much. Once the blood got back to my toes it REALLY hurt for a bit (and I swear I didn't cry this time), then I was fine. And I sent Jeremy to buy me some toe warmers too (which, Crissy, I didn't buy in the first place because I didn't think they would fit in my already too small boots). But yes, they fit and we went out for another couple of hours. It never got warmer and it was was snowing all day which I dislike because the light is flat and it's hard to see the terrain. But we did have fun, then we (the we that is Jeremy) got to drive 2 1/2 hours to get home (it should have taken 75 minutes).

And, because of the newest snow (are we calling this one snowstorm #5?) the boys are marooned at Grammie's and won't be home until tomorrow. Which is kinda exciting because I don't think we've had the house to ourselves since Alex was born. We've already started off the party by having canned soup for dinner and reading the paper. Party animals, I tell ya.

Are you really calling my adorable daughter a baby Paris Hilton? :(

What a kid-free weekend you had!! Too bad you were sick for part of it.

The hat is definitely cute, I too am stumped on where the line between cute and rediculous lies. I think the deal is that no matter how silly the hat is, Ariel wearing it will definitely be simply adorable.
I can not believe you got minor frost bite and then squeezed toe warmers in your WAY too small boots. It is time for new boots!

I love the new car. Very nice!!
