... and two walkers and what I think was a coyote. At least I hope it was a coyote. I don't think mountain lions bounce like that but it was hard to see because my sunglasses kept fogging up. Ah yes, today sets a new record and a new standard. When I left for my run, it was 1°. But as promised, it was sunny (after the initial ground fog/steam abated) and no wind chill. I had on a lot of my ski gear - tights, ski socks, ski shirt, tech jacket, neck gator and hat. And, you know, it wasn't that bad. I was breaking trail on a lot of it, until the cowboys drove by in their pickup to feed the said cows and then I had nice treads to run on. Somehow I'm imagining Ironman race day will be 90° with similar humidity and I'll think back to this day with fondness.
And in other news, I went back to Boulder Running Company and exchanged my shoes. A different pair of Brook's shoes passed the 5 minute treadmill test (somehow, I wish I had thought of my treadmill bench mark test before trying 3 shoes after a 50 minute trail run). I'll be sure to report back if they pass the 30 minute test next week.
