This better not be a trend

I like to brag that Colorado is great for training year round. The year I trained for the marathon I always could run outside. I rode at least a few times every month last year. But... going back a few years, the winter of '06-'07. You know, when the airport was shut down a few times and we almost broke the record for the longest time of snow on the ground. And then all the elite athlete in Boulder took up skate skiing, which while interesting will not help me become a better triathlete. And would involve more equipment buying.

We had the first snow of the year today (I'm not counting Thursday because nothing stuck). And while the air temperature was 18 when I left, the ground has still not frozen so it wasn't icy. I had a nice hill workout to do, 15 minute warm-up, 6 x 2 minutes up a hill with recovering coming back down, 15 minutes cool down. I don't mind workouts like these, they tend to go faster than "just go run for 56 minutes."

And when I got home I did a half-assed strength workout. I really should have gone to the gym but it seemed like too much work. Oh, yeah, I realize I could have run on a treadmill today because yes, I DO have a gym membership but it's going to have to get much worse before I resort to that.
