Plan B - run with Becky and try to take it easy and enjoy the day. Here we are at 6:15am getting ready to walk down to the bus. Note our new fab Bee Rad matching socks:

The bus took longer than usual and we just had time to use the bathroom before our wave was ready to go. I did feel like I was holding back a lot the first mile, but as the race progressed it got harder and harder. My average heart rate was 162, usually at this pace I can maintain 154. I am dearly hoping I didn't push it too much today. My finishing time was 1:05, about 20 seconds faster than my Return to Running Bolder Boulder 2 years ago.

Meanwhile, my dad was enlisted to walk with Alex the whole way. The Bolder Boulder neglected to consider the construction on Broadway and their bus got held up in traffic. The ride took over an hour (I would think with no traffic it should take 15-20 minutes) and they started 15 minutes after the last official wave. My dad was seriously concerned that they would get picked up by the sweepers (they have to close the course before the pros started at 11:30), but Alex kicked it up a notch and they finished in 1:44, almost 20 minutes faster than Alex did last year.
After they finished, I met them in the stadium for the Memorial Day program. Here's Alex enjoying some of his schwag:

First we got to see the professional runners finish. The Ethiopian men won and ran the track together holding hands to the end:

Next came the parachutes. My friend Rachel's husband jumped with the Coast Guard flag. He jumps into Bronco games too:

All the service branches were represented and last came the flag:

There was a rifle salute:

And a jet flyover that I didn't get a picture of. I've never stayed for the program before (but in all fairness it's been raining the last 2 years) and it was very cool. We'll definitely have to do it next year, when Adam joins us.
