I'm really starting to wonder why I get sick so often. Too much training? Sub par nutrition? The hazards of having 2 school aged children? Bad luck? I dunno, but this one has me baffled.
When Alex first started getting sick with the chicken pox 3 weeks ago, I was very proactive about staying healthy. I started taking echinacea and upped my fruits and vegetables. I made sure I drank water and got a good night sleep. By last Thursday I was definitely thinking I was coming down with something. I took it easy on my morning run, evening swim and Friday swim. I skipped my Friday bike. And by Friday evening I was toast. Completely stuffed up and coughing and feeling like ca-ca. I spent Saturday on the lovely couch in Breckenridge reading our entire book club book. I felt sort of better by Sunday afternoon and took a very easy spin on the bike trail from Breckenridge to Frisco.
At first I was worried about the training I was missing (like a run 9k, ride 2 1/2 hours, run 9k workout on Saturday) but at this point I'm just hoping not to develop bronchitis or pneumonia. And I've got 11 days before Boise to get back in the game.
