Today, Becky, Rachel, and I raced the Loveland 4 mile. It turned out to be a fairly difficult course. The first 1.5 miles were downhill with a tailwind and I was lulled into a false sense of my abilities. I did 2 miles in 17 minutes. And the last 2.75 miles were uphill into a fairly serious headwind. At any rate, I got a PR! Ha, I've never raced 4 miles before. And really, it was challenged to figure out how hard to go, not as short as a 5k but much less than a 10k... I also got a heart rate PR. My last two races, I have averaged 176 bpm and today I hit 177 bpm.
Averaged. My last 15 minutes were around 183 bpm, which is not a very comfortable place to be. And a 10 year old girl beat me. My watch time was 35:18, which placed me mid-pack of the women 30-39. I ran the same pace I ran for Rudolph's Revenge 10k back in December.
