Apr 3, 2006

I was really meant to have girls. Now, don't get me wrong, I love my boys. And I'm good at playing with trucks and trains, digging in the dirt and getting messy. But I would also love to have a girl to read Anne of Green Gables to, teach how to knit and dress in foofy pink outfits with lots of bows. Good thing Ariel is around, so my boys don't grow up with gender identity issues.

Here's what I was up to this weekend. I had this hat that my boys wore, and I wanted to convert it to a hat for Ariel.

(And the backstory on this picture - I got the bear and chair out to take the picture and Adam really wanted to sit on the chair with the bear. I had to hold him while I took the picture, then I gave him the bear and the chair. But oh no, he needed the bear with the hat, which I needed to sew. So I had to find the bear another hat and then Adam was finally happy. At least Adam was wearing pants at the time.)

I made this flower from a little kit, but I had to do all the work, including ironing adhesive to the fabric. Which brings me to another backstory, I went to get my iron and it looked like an exotic animal because it was covered with an inch of dryer lint. I don't think that iron has been touched in at least 3 years.

The new hat:

(You will notice a new bear as well, Adam still had the original bear.)

And my other girly froof-froof activity - knitting Ariel a new sweater. (Which I had to get my iron out again to attach the handmade label. Twice in two days, it's a miracle!)

Oh, and some of you may have thought I was going skiing this weekend. That was the plan, but it didn't happen. Wednesday night, Adam came down with croup. At 11:30 pm, I had to take him in the bathroom with the shower running, then take him outside, then back to the bathroom. His cough cleared up and then I got him back to bed. Come morning, Jeremy had no idea any of the happened. And we were using the shower right off the master bedroom. I wish I could sleep that well.

So Super Grammie came up Thursday, then took Alex home with her Friday, which gave us a little break. But I still want to go snowboarding soon, I want too see how my boots fit now that my dead toenail finally fell off.

And the Suduko Challenge Results (thus far):

Dad: 15:30ish
Me: 16:32 (And I feel pretty good 'bout that)

7:05 Drop-off. We are not amused by the time change.

7:30 Asleep in Bjorn

9:00 It wasn't a matter of if, but rather when, we would go to Starbucks. I checked in with Crissy (who was doing a Hobby Lobby field-trip) so we were clear to go on our own.

9:15 Adam grabbed his diapers out of the diaper bag and carried them around Safeway:

He kept dropping them, and refusing my offer to carry them or put them back in the bag.

9:20 I fed Ariel her 4 oz bottle while I waited in line for my (free!) drink. It was extra good today, too.

9:30 Crissy wasn't home yet, so we had to go to Michael's (with Adam and his diapers) to waste more time. I happened to have my coupon, so I picked up this mini-scrapbook kit I've been eyeing. The total was $3.88 but I paid cash so Jeremy wouldn't see it. I think that this sneaking around may be show that I have a true full-blow Michael's addiction.

10:15 Got to Crissy's house, Ariel was asleep in the carseat.

11:00 Ariel woke up, Crissy had to play with her:

Ariel also spit up on Crissy's new pair of cute jeans.

11:30 Ariel got a bit grumpy, but I told Crissy she could not eat yet. Crissy got her to sleep in the bjorn, which allowed her to multitask.

Since Crissy is my best friend, I have to share this neuroticism. Crissy loves scrapbook stickers. A lot. Anytime Hobby Lobby or Michael's has stickers on sale, Crissy is there. Though she is finding it's not as much fun anymore since she already has them all. Today she told me she almost doesn't want to use some in her albums because she just likes looking at them so much. She bought some new plastic organizational folders and spent the next 1 1/2 hours organizing her stickers.

12:40 Ariel woke up. Crissy was too busy with her stickers to feed her, so I fed her. And she was really spitty. She spit up on my shirt. My jacket. My shirt. My shoes. The floor. Probably my pants. Oh, and all over herself. I didn't feed her the last 1/2 oz of her 4oz bottle.

1:30 Adam was getting cranky, so we had to go.

1:45 Get home. I was able to put Ariel off in the bouncy seat while I got Adam down for a nap. Yay!

2:00 Ariel asleep in the bjorn.

3:00 Adam woke up, a bit prematurely. Probably because his clothes were soaking wet from his experiments with drinking from a real cut at Crissy's. I put Ariel down in her carseat and she said asleep.

3:30 3 oz bottle

4;30 Pick up. I have little memory of the previous hour. Is that bad?

The sweater really is super cute. I think I'll do the sudoku challenge tonight. It's end of month at work, too many distractions to get an accurate AWESOME time.

Well I had time while we were doing backup. I really am a genius - somewhere between 8 1/2 and 9 minutes.

"Somewhere" between 81/2 and 9 minutes? That doesn't sound very accurate. How do I know it wasn't really 17 minutes or so?

I looked at the clock before I started, when I stopped. However, I had two phone calls in between, and even though I noted the time I answered the phone and the time I hung up, it is impossible to gauge the exact seconds. Sheesh. I'm not a cheater!!

no comment about Alex today. Was he a little angel?

Alex who? Let's see.... He didn't carry diapers around for an hour. He and Gavin did play for 3 hours. But they were outside or in the garage (attached to the house) and generally out of trouble.

Ok, here's one. When I was putting Adam down for his nap, Ariel was peeping and Alex came and talked to her and she was quiet.

Hmmm, he wasn't a complete angel, but not bad, either.

Crissy, have you sudukoed yet?

Okay, Okay, I promise I haven't forgotten to sudoku. I'm just waiting for a time I won't get interrupted. Marcus is skiing today so maybe I'll get some peaceful time today. I'll let you know when I'm done.
