October 6, 2008

Happy Monday, everyone. We had an exceedingly quiet weekend, especially for my family. On Saturday we took the boys to see Beverly Hills Chihuahua (there had been a trailer for it at Wall-E) and it didn't suck. Jeremy and I might have even chuckled a few times. The boys were less impressed, the trailer they saw was a bunch of singing and dancing dogs, I think they would have liked that more than a movie with a plot line and such.

On Sunday, I did the Race for the Cure. I started the morning off right by getting completely lost. To the Pepsi Center. You know, a major landmark, right off the highway? I dunno, it was dark. And I was confused. I finally called Jeremy at 6:15 am to get help, though at that point I had sorta gotten there on my own. And apparently, this wasn't a race for a good cause, it was a fun run event. The race numbers were not connected to names in anyway (and none of the volunteers could answer why we even needed them). There was no official timing. My race itself was slow and hard. I felt like I gave it all I got and came in around 29:30, 3 minutes slower than my triathlon 5k. But hey, I got to be a part of 62,000 people supporting a good cause.

7:15 Drop off Ariel. I was not awake. I guess we are back to that again.

8:00 Got Alex to school.

8:05 Breakfast - yogurt and no Kix.

8:45 Took Ariel to school. On the way to school, the check engine light came back on in Jeremy's car. Oh yeah, we decided to get a new engine, but not from the dealer. We got a Japanese refurbished one for only $3800. What could go wrong? Anyway, I had Jeremy's car because I was planning on stopping by the dealer to try and get the radio code so we could turn the freaking radio on again. But alas, I had to make plans to take it back to the mechanic.

9:00 Ariel drop off.

9:15 Physical therapy appointment. I'm finally starting to figure out why I'm going. It's not that I'm particularly weak, it's that I have muscle imbalances. My quads are overly strong and often do the work of muscles they aren't supposed to. So these exercises are aimed specifically at the muscles that need to get strong but normally don't do enough work because of those pesky quads. I don't think I've been doing it long enough to see results, but it should be interesting in a month.

10:30 Took the car to the mechanic. They needed it for half a day so I got a ride back home.

11:30 Picked up Adam.

12:00 Met Ellen for lunch. We were supposed to meet at VG Burgers but I got confused and was a block north. I called Ellen and told her that VG Burgers was gone, but there was a new hamburger place there. And they did have veggies burgers and fries and it was fine, but I did feel pretty darn stupid.

1:00 Picked up Ariel from school. Nothing to report, other than Becky, you are signed up for snack on Oct 27th.

1:30 Got home. Ariel picked at her lunch and then went down for her nap. It took her a loooong time to fall asleep.

While Ariel was sleeping, Adam was very industriously working on his spelling list. He thinks because Alex has one, he'd like one too. But I think the only thing he can really spell is his name. Alex and I got tired of shouting letters at him and eventually Alex just gave him his own list to copy. And Adam made a very nice word cloud.

4:30 Pick up.
