First Swim Meet

Ok, if we forget our brief stint with the Boulder Swim team and the meet in December 2008, this is the first swim meet. Or, at least our first swim meet with the Manta Rays. Poor little Adam had to sit this one out but he's excited to compete next week.

Alex swam the 25 freestyle, 25 backstroke and 25 breast stroke.

Half an hour before the meet was the very first time the kids had the opportunity to dive off the blocks. At least during the meet they had the choice of using the blocks or just going off the side of the pool like they do in practice. Alex chose the block:



He was very smooth and controlled in the freestyle, I think he could have used a little more umph.

He got 8th place out of 16 boys 8 & under.

And his backstroke looked great, I'm not sure why he was disqualified:


I didn't get a video of his breaststroke because I helped time the second half of the meet. He got 3rd place and was only a second away from 1st. We had a fun morning and Alex is excited for the next meet... except he doesn't want to do backstroke again.
