August 11, 2008

As usual for our family, we had a very busy weekend. Saturday morning saw us up at 5:30am to go to the boys' triathlon at Boulder Res. And what a super cute triathlon it was. The distances were roughly a 25m dash through knee high water, a 1/4 mile bike and a .1 mile run.

Adam's age 3-4 wave went first.

I was with Adam the whole time. He didn't need bike help, but he did need help with the transitions. And he's off (on his training wheel bike):

And the strong finish:

Adam was convinced that he won the whole race and the "everyone is a winner" wasn't cutting it for him:

Alex's wave started about 1/2 hour later. He had the option to really swim but he chose to run:

And the most I saw of him on the bike, he's too fast to run with:

And another strong finish!

My triathladorks:

After the race, I had a senior photoshoot (you can see a sneak peek on my photo blog).

Sunday morning, Jeremy had a race on highway 128 and the boys and I watched a bit. Sadly, Jeremy got a flat tire and didn't complete the race.

And onto Monday...

7:15 Drop off. Today is my rest day so I was here.

Breakfast - Ariel had 3 pancakes (I do make them small).

9:00 Ariel had an irrational crying fit that lasted about 1/2. Odd. And noisy.

11:30 Left for the adventure of the day - swimming at Ted's pool.

An appropriate place to wear a swim cap:

We swam and ate a sack lunch. Ariel had 1/2 a PB&J, 2 string cheese, yogurt, a few grapes and a zucchini cookie. Must be a growth spurt or something.

I took her down the slide 3 times before I told her that she needed to do it by herself and I would catch her. That backfired when she actually did start down the slide (after a few false starts) and stopped half way. The kid behind her couldn't see that she was just sitting and he went and pushed her down. Then we were done with the slide.

1:45 Left the pool.

2:00 Got home, went down for a nap. Ariel went straight down, I didn't hear a peep out of her.

4:30 Pick up (and Becky woke Ariel up).
