May 7, 2007

Yeah. Today was a Monday alright.

7:00 Drop off (hey, on time today.)

7:20 Breakfast - blueberries and hot cereal

7:40 Took the boys to swimming. Both did really well. Adam had to swim with clothes and shoes on, which he was not thrilled about. But he did fine. And Alex swam all over the pool with a great attitude. Their teacher thinks they may be ready for regular class this week, that would be GREAT for everyone. Alex has to swim with clothes on tomorrow, but unlike Adam I gave him some warning.

8:30 Jeremy met us at the pool. Since Alex did so well, we went to Starbucks for donuts. I'm starting to regret this reward. I got a mocha and Ariel didn't have much, though Alex sweetly shared a tiny peace of his donut with her.

9:00 Dropped Alex off at school. Then Adam and Ariel played at the playground. Ariel climbed up (with close spotting) a 6 foot ladder to get to a slide. This thing is serious, it makes me nervous to have Adam on it. But up she went, and then down the slide.

9:30 Went to the post office. I really really dislike the post office on Valmont. Every time I got there I wait forever. I really need to remember that it's just not worth it. Oh, and did you know that postage goes up to $.41 next week? I swear this is the first I've heard of it.

9:45 Went out east to check a few farms for eggs. Sadly, there were none to be had. Ellen met us out there too. And then this is a fun story - when we were leaving the second farm Adam wanted to listen to the Lion King on the headphones. So I turned on the car to turn the CD player on, got Adam set up and then got out of the car and shut the door. And then I was locked out, because my car has this really handy feature of locking all the doors once the ignition was on. And of course my purse was locked in the car too.

So I had to go to the farm to borrow their phone, and the only number I could remember was Becky. I called her and she gave me Jeremy's number. Called Jeremy, he said he would come rescue me. Luckily the farm wasn't too far from his work.

10:40 After about 15 minutes, my knight in shining armor arrived and unlocked my car. Ariel slept through the whole thing, and Adam was being amused by the Lion King. Just one of the incidents to test my sanity (much like loosing my purse).

During this time, I was supposed to be meeting Ellen at the secret post office. I missed out on her cookie monster adventure. Probably for the best, who knows what I would have ending up having to buy.

11:00 Caught up with Ellen at Costco. She has a membership and I wanted to check it out. I think I'm still ok without one. The only awesome deal I found was 64 oz of maple syrup for what I pay for 32 oz. And it's very sad to think how fast we'll go through 64 oz of syrup.

Costco even has bigger carts:

11:45 Next stop, Jamba Juice. And then Panera Bread, but I only got a bagel there.

12:30 Quick stop by Ellen's to pick up half a dozen eggs, then we were off again to get Alex from school.

1:00 Pick up Alex from school.

1:30 Trip to Target. My dryer sheets (which I ended up getting the wrong kind anyway) ended up costing $56. The boys each got a Star Wars lego set and I got a bike helmet for Ariel to make grandpa happy.

Boy this is a crappy picture, I should have had my flash on.

3:00 Ariel went down for a nap. The boys put together their lego sets. Alex really amazing me with his building talent. This kit had 118 pieces and was very unlike a bionicle, but he was able to put it together without a smidge of help.

4:30 Pick up.

I think she looks pretty cute in her pink helmet. The carts at Costco must be gigantic. I have never seen one where two kids can sit at one time... wow.

Cute Ariel with a helmet. Can she actually pedal? Seems like you need to pedal to need a helmet. Or is it for the burley rides?
Way to go Alex in the great lego building skills.
