Life Lessons by Wendy - The coffee bean grinder can hold more whole beans than ground beans. But don't worry, eventually the ground beans that have no where to go will build up enough pressure to move the ground tray and spray freely over the counter. Messes like that should not happen before coffee.

7:00 Drop off.

7:30 Breakfast - hot cereal

9:00 I helped Alex (by finding pieces) put together his lego V-Wing. The new lego catalog came Monday afternoon and there are about a million new sets he wants, but I told him I'm not going to buy him sets when the old ones are in pieces and lost. But we did get this one together and as an added bonus he actually liked playing with it, even though it's not brand new General Grievous. Ariel played (uh, made a mess) in Alex's room too.

9:50 Left for the Adventure of the day. I put Alex and Ariel in the trailer and we rode to the library.

10:15 Storytime. Ariel did pretty well today. And there was a huge daycare group there, about 3 caretakers and 15 wiggly bored 3 year old. I shot dirty looks at the caretakers, daycare groups at storytime is one of my biggest pet peeves. Apparently they were pretty good dirty looks because when they finally left midway because of lack of attention, a caretaker was having a hard time getting a girl to leave. I treated her to a particularly dirty look and she said,

"Oh, are we disturbing you?"

And I said, "Well, this is a lot of kids for a small space."

And she said, "We plan on coming her once and a while. Last I checked, it's a public place."

And then I felt bad for being confrontational. But when I thought about it more, I still think I'm in the right, minus the passive-aggressive glares. When Ellen had Sam's birthday party in a public park, she had to pay to reserve the shelter. When Ted's school visits this very same library, they go at a non-storytime time and have their own librarian and room. It's just common courtesy (IMHO, of course) to not bring a bunch of kids out anywhere. And don't get me started on mass field trips (and of course Alex's class is going to the zoo Friday.) Oy.

10:45 Left storytime. Alex ate his lunch in the trailer and Ariel fell asleep.

11:15 Stopped home so Alex could get on his bike.

11:40 Picked up Adam. Ariel woke up when Adam got in the trailer.

11:50 Dropped Alex off late.

12:00 Home and lunch. Mac & cheese and banana.

12:45 Walked to the park. There was another little boy and he and Adam immediately started playing. I just love how they walk up to each other and say, "Do you want to play" and then just start. Ariel amused herself on the slides and with digging. More kids came and went and I sat in the shade and knitted.

2:20 Walked to Alex school.

3:00 Got home. I thought Ariel would be pretty tired after a trailer nap and being outside all day but she didn't fall asleep.

3:40 Pick up.

I've had a coffee grinder mishap too. Mine was more obvious user error, I started it without the grind catcher container in place. It was fun running for the container and then realizing that it was hard to fit in with all of the grinds in the bottom!
Dirty looks and confrontation at the library!?! you crack me up. It sounds like something that would happen out east not in lovely Boulder CO.
I miss you!

I would have been irritated at the library too. Large groups of kids are irritating ;)
