Mar. 27, 2006

First off, the results from this week's Suduko challenge. I didn't hear from anyone else, so I declare myself the winner! Go me!!!

Me: 30 minutes - 2 wrong numbers. Woohoo!

(I suppose if you can beat that time, I will allow you back into the challenge. But you have to do the puzzle, then report your time back. All of yous.)

7:05 Drop off. Ariel was actually asleep and stayed asleep. I tried to redeem my poor Suduko Challenge showing by doing the Denver Post Sunday one. Um, I'm still working on it, and I'm not timing myself. It's rated hard!!!

8:10 Ariel woke up. I brought her out for the boys to talk to while I continued to work on my very important puzzle.

8:20 Bottle. I'm trying 3 oz again today. Ariel did not eat nearly as enthusiastically as usual, and left 1/2 ounce.

8:35 Commence Project Go To Zoo. Lunch packing, etc.

9:15 Leaving for the zoo. I imagine we won't be back for a while, so have a good day!

9:30 Well, I thought I was leaving, but then Crissy called from vacation (hi Crissy!) and then my yoga teacher called to say yoga was cancelled (I'm ok with that). So now we left.

10:15 Get to the zoo. Adam wanted to see the punkeys (monkeys - it's super cute) and Alex wanted to see the bats and ride the merry-go-round. We headed to the monkeys first.

11:00 Ariel had her first bottle. While I was feeding her, this very brave and nervy squirrel stole our sandwich!!!

(This is after I moved our lunch, he's coming back for more. The nerve!) A kind woman retrieved it for me but he had breached the bag so I threw it away. Damn you squirrel!!!

After her bottle, Ariel rode around with the Adam-nator in the stroller:

Then we had to wander all the way across the zoo, to see the bats in Tropical Discovery. I couldn't get a picture since it was very dark, but here's Adam checking out a komodo dragon:

After Tropical Discovery, we walked by the Big Cats.

1:00 We parked in front of this jaguar while Ariel had her next bottle:

We picked this spot because it was the most interesting. This jaguar was making a sound I've never heard any cat make - "heh heh heh heh" or possibly "huh huh huh huh." I got it on video, but I didn't upload it.

1:20 Now we headed back across the zoo for the merry-go-round and the train.

1:45 Frist we rode the train ("choo choo ding ding")

Then we rode the merry-go-round. Alex chose a jaguar, which I see I didn't get in the picture. Adam had a rhino (he had no choice, it was the animal next to Alex's):

And last, we found the flamingoes, which were hiding out in their winter quarters:

I was going to take more pictures, but taking three kids to the zoo is not as easy as it sounds.

2:15 You know it's time to leave when no one is having fun anymore. Adam tripped right by the Flamingoes and it sent him into a tired never-ending cry. Wahhhh!

2:30 Leave. Adam fell asleep quickly, so Alex started wailing (wahhhh!) because I yelled at him for stepping on Ariel's toy. And I might have threatened to not bring him back to the zoo this year (not very Love & Logic, I know).

2:45 Miraculously, they both fell asleep, so of course Ariel had to start crying. Wahhhhhh!

3:00 I wanted to get the sweet picture of Adam and Alex sleeping, but thought it would be better if I wasn't going 65 MPH while operating my camera. By the time I got off the highway, Alex was waking up.

3:05 Get home - Ariel had next 3 oz bottle. I left Adam sleeping in the garage, and just as I got in to turn the monitor on he was already awake and screaming. The only good part of this was that Alex walked in and said, "I had too much fun today" and I told him to lay down on his bed and he did. So then I was trying to feed Ariel with Adam crying on me. Right after she was done, I put her in the swing so that I could comfort Adam and it worked.

4:00 Ariel fell asleep in the bjorn.

4:25 Pick up. I think I had too much fun today too.
