Feb. 23, 2007

7:00 Drop off. Breakfast - mushed apricots and a waffle (which she threw on the floor so I put in in a baggie for later). Oh, and Ellen was telling me about a berry flavored fish oil, so I bought some for my kids. I made them a strawberry shake (with Quick, no less) and Alex loved it. But with Ariel, I gave her a couple spoonfuls just straight and she ate it right up, so I'll start doing that for breakfast too. Becky, you are ok with your daughter having cod liver oil, right ;) ?

7:45 Ariel was acting a bit cranky so I put her down for a nap, but I don't think she ever slept. She wasn't crying either. Mostly, she was probably trying to figure out why she couldn't pull off the sheet from her new low position in the pack and play (Laura took the crib last night).

8:30 Poopy.

8:45 Left for preschool.

9:05 Got to preschool.

9:30 Adam, Ariel and I headed over to PALS. Ariel sat watching most of the time (eating her floor waffle).

10:00 I got one of the weirdest phone calls of my life. It was from Alex's preschool teacher, telling me that Alex had just gotten bit on the butt. I was so confused that my first question was, "By a human?" Yes, and it had broken the skin and the school can't administer any drugs, so would I come over and smear some neosporin on it. Poor Ellen was sitting next to me, sure that Alex and Ted's Bionicle playing had gotten out of hand and Ted was the culprit. I went over to the office and Alex was fine and the bite was nothing. I have seen much worse given and taken from Adam. But I put on the neosporin and got the 411 - it was thankfully not Ted. But it was another five year old and Alex was not instigating.

10:30 Ariel was a big girl and sat at the table and had challah with the rest of her PALS. Then she pooped.

11:00 After PALS, Ellen and I went to lunch. Ariel again slept under the table. And Adam took several trips to the bathroom. Which reminds me of an Adam tangent.

So, when Adam came back from his vacation at Grammie's, the little potty accidentally stayed at her house. This was of some concern because that's the only place Adam will poop. Wednesday - day one - he put up a little bit of protest going on the big potty, but he really had to go. It also involved a bribe of seven hersey kisses. Then today, he said he had to go after breakfast, but then wouldn't try at home. He sat at the restaurant, but wouldn't go there either. But, he's not the kind of kid to go in his pants, so it's mostly just drama for everyone.

12:15 After lunch, instead of returning to school with Ellen, I went home. That's because today, Alex was going home with Ted for a playdate. I was very excited. I had a envisioned a perfect afternoon of getting lots of accomplished. First, Adam would fall asleep in the car, then take a long nap at home. I would feed Ariel lunch, then she would also take a lengthy nap. I would do many useful things, including registering my business with the state. Anyway, back to reality...

12:45 First errand on the way home - running by my doctor's office to pick up some sample pills. See, if I call in a prescription a week ago, then the office tells me that they won't refill it unless I come in for an appointment, then gives me an appointment two weeks after the initial call, we have a problem. I HAVE NO PILLS. And when I called to explain that to the receptionist, she didn't think anything could be done because my PCP was out of the office. But oh yes, I had to have the pills. Not an option. And when we got to the office, my PCP's partner gladly gave me some samples. But still, way to much drama. Oh, and Adam checked out the potties there but they were too tall for pooping in.

1:15 Stopped by the bank to deposit checks. Then I drove the long way home and Adam did fall asleep. My plan was falling into place.

1:45 Got home. Transfered Adam to the couch. He woke up to ask for his jacket off. Then he was up because he still had to poop. We got a poop done with only two Kisses, but there was no way he was going back to sleep. Plan A, aborted.

1:50 Ariel had lunch, mixed veggies, yogurt and then she didn't want cereal.

Rest of the afternoon - Ariel didn't want to nap and I tried to make a To Do list and then I did get a few things accomplished (like ordering curtains!).

3:00 Put Ariel down for a nap, but she didn't sleep.

4:00 Pick up.

And sorry, a day without pictures. But here's a one from this evening. Alex has gotten the class mascot, Zevvy the Wolf, for the weekend. Alex was the first to have him in the class a month ago, and now the bar has been raised. Zevvy has had many adventures with Alex's classmates. He's gone swimming, to soccer, to the park, Karate, and even skiing at Vail. Zevvy had Shabbat with us, and I'm still thinking about what else we can do:

How did the missing potty work out this weekend. I'm sure the drama will end soon. Yeah, you found curtains!
