July 27, 2007

7:00 Drop off. I had just rolled out of bed.

7:15 Breakfast - Ariel had yogurt and the asked for hot cereal.

8:40 Left for school.

9:00 Dropped the boys off at camp. The PALS teacher was on vacation so Ellen and I decided to start PALS a half an hour early.

PALS was fine. A bit less messy than usual. There were 4 kids today. Ariel played with cars and and ramp and then with markers and stickers. For snack they had goldfish and carrots and raisins but Ariel only ate one goldfish.

We played outside for a bit but there was too much sand throwing all around so we left.

10:45 Left, went to the mall for lunch. We went to the California Pizza Kitchen. I made Ellen try the tostada pizza and she said it was good, but the toppings belonged on a taco, not a pizza. I did point out it was the California Pizza Kitchen, not the California Taco Kitchen.

Mae shared her mac&cheese&edaname. Ariel skipped the edaname but had some noodles. And that's a weird combination that sounds very Boulder, but keep in mind CPK is a national chain:

Ellen and I also sampled a raspberry mojito for experimental purposes. It was different, but good. And 1/2 a drink is probably just right for a lunch date with toddlers.

Afterwards, Ellen went to Starbucks (and for the record, I did not) and then Ariel soaked herself in the Earth Ball fountain:

Ariel was having a great time playing with Mae and whenever Mae got moody, Ariel would call out "Mae-Mae" and expect Mae to chase her.

12:40 Got back to school for Shabbat sing.

1:00 After school, we went to Target. I was hoping to buy some time this afternoon by getting Alex a new lego set. He was hoping to get a new New Bionicle, but Target still doesn't have them. Adam got a clearance old Bionicle and Alex got a $5.00 3-in-1 animal set. We also bought Alex's school supplies.

2:00 Got home, Ariel went in the crib. I got the boys set up with their new legos and then set out to do the task I have been putting off for months. Finding my desk. I even decided not to do my normal Friday chores like cleaning up the kitchen and bathrooms and vacuuming. But apparently, the universe did not want me to find my desk, as it set up all kinds of obstacles.

The first stumbling block - as I went to put Alex's new school supplies somewhere where I wouldn't trip over them, I found that one of the glues, by accident or by Adam, had come open and there was glue over everything. While I was cleaning this mess up, I kid you not, both cats came into the desk room and had hair balls on the carpeted floor.

But finally, I was able to start. Here's the before picture:

3:30 Ariel woke up. And she had diarrhea such that she required a bath and a bed change. Not fun for either of us.

4:40 Pick up. When I left the house to buy our salmon for dinner, I had gotten my desk clean and the shelves and books dusted. Unfortunately, the job was not done:

And by 7:30 I had made some real progress. I still need to deal with everything on the desk. And there's that corner beside the desk and wall that has to be sorted. But I put lots away and found lots to throw out and give away. I think the major hurdle has been overcome, I just need to keep going. And when I'm done, I can work on my computer desk. And then the refrigerator. And maybe then the pantry and then the bathroom closet. Sigh.

WTG! It looks superb. Even I am tempted to have a seat in the (matching!) chair to compose a (MS?) letter or write a bill. Good job!! (Want to tackle my kitchen counter next?)
