May 12, 2008

First off, I hope you noticed I wasn't here Friday. I had a newborn photoshoot and Ariel and newborn photoshoot weren't going to work out together. (Thanks, Laura, for taking Ariel on Friday)

Here's 3 week old Gus:

And his whole sessions is here.

And while I'm recounting my weekend, Saturday was interesting too. Ellen took the boys so I could infiltrate Jeremy's bike team. There were planned men and women's rides. The men did a hard core 3 hour ride. The women went about 2 miles from the meeting spot, hit a nasty cross wind and bailed in favor of brunch. It was a nice brunch and I still rode an hour so I consider the day a success, though I'm not sure Jeremy will ever be able to look at me with a straight face again. And for the record, I did ride home in a cold light snow. I suffered a bit.

And Mother's Day... Jeremy took the boys to get bagels so I could sleep in a little more. Then the boys surprised me with presents. Alex made me a green beaded necklace and matching earrings, a portrait of him and me and another picture on which he wrote, "To Mommy, I love you, Alex." Adam gave me love and promises of a nice bread (although in the end only Grammie got a nice bread). Jeremy gave me a stainless steal water bottle (I think he's worried about the possible amputations from the glass bottle) and a bag of crap. Oh yes, and I even asked for the bag of crap, so I was pretty happy, even more so that Jeremy turned in into the garden soil.

I did a great 5 mile run. My knees didn't hurt and it was almost pleasant at times. I think a 10k in 2 weeks is doable.

Then Grammie and Pop Pop and Sarah and Devon all came up to Boulder for lunch and then we went to Grandma's house for dinner. Pictures -

Notice my new green necklace:

And really, this was the best of the best:

And today - Monday

7:15 Drop off. Breakfast - bogurt and cheerios.

7:50 Took Alex to school.

We spent a lot of time outside today. First, I had to hang laundry. Then I had to weed the garden area. Ariel was ok with all of this because she likes being outside.

9:30 Ariel had an accident outside. Hmm.

9:45 Snack of 2 sauces and cheerios

10:00 Left for our grand adventure at Home Depot. We met Rachel and Lilianna there and Rachel gave me plant and seed advice. I bought:

200 lbs of sandbox sand
clothes pins
1 tomato plant
zucchini seeds
broccoli seeds
spinach seeds
bird feeder
seeds
AAA rechargeable batteries so Jeremy stops giving me grief about killing the earth with my MP3 player

11:20 Left Home Depot to pick up Adam. On route, Ariel had an accident in the car seat. A BIG accident. Jeremy says I'm not allowed to borrow his car anymore.

11:30 Picked up Adam.

12:00 Home and Ariel went right down for a nap. During her nap I:

washed a carseat cover
cleaned Jeremy's car's upholstery
cleaned out the super nasty sand out of the sand box and replaced it with 200 lbs of clean sand
Cleaned some dead parts of plants out of the front yard
Weeded all of the pea gravel in the backyard
planted two tomato plants (Rachel gave me one too)

2:30 Woke Ariel up to pick up Alex.

2:50 Got home, Ariel had a snack of cheese and cheerios and cheddar bunnies.

And then, all three kids went outside and PLAYED in the clean sandbox. It was lovely:

Sure, there was some squabbling and sand throwing and tears, but overall so nice that they were all happy outside.

And here's the garden, hopefully a nice before picture. The tomatoes are in their cages on the right (and I had to cover them tonight because it's probably going to snow). The vegetable garden will be in the back dirt and we'll plant some more flowers in the front where the tulips and daffodils are:

4:30 Ariel went home. And afterwards I got the seeds in - oregano, spinach, carrots, broccoli and zucchini.

I don't know why she had accidents yesterday. She was REALLY good last night. Ate her whole dinner, played, went to bed early.
