I had planned to do a bike ride this morning, but not in the pouring rain. And rather than go to stroller class, I decided to get some chores done and go to the grocery store. I made a couple of doctor's appointments, booked Adam's birthday party at Pump it Up (on his birthday in the pm) and called Toyota to get my 70k tune up done. All the while Alex and Ariel played mostly happily together.
10:30 Grocery store trip. All the car carts were outside in the rain so Alex rode in the back of a regular cart with his lunch box and groceries piled around and on him. He had a donut, Ariel had two cookies. I had two free donut holes.
11:30 Picked up Adam.
11:40 Dropped off Alex at school. As we pulled into the bus lane, Alex looked over at the lone bike at the bike rack. "Mommy, who's bike is that?" We looked closer and realized it was Alex's. Jeremy had biked Alex to school on FRIDAY and I had forgotten. Alex's bike was there all weekend and no one took it. It's nice to live in that kind of neighborhood.
On the way home, Ariel entertained the boys by kicking off her boots. One hit her in the face. She cried. Then we got home and I made her walk to the house in the rain in bare feet. And she cried. Perhaps a lesson was learned?
12:00 Ariel went down for a nap. I was much less busy during nap time today. Adam and I made some more chocolate dipped strawberries and I folded laundry.
I also sat down with Adam to make a birthday invite list. He wants to invite most of the kids in his class, his teacher and her 6 month old baby and a few moms because, "They can help with a baking project." Uh, Adam, hate to break it to you but there will be no baking projects at Pump it Up. He also wants two cakes, a bionicle cake and a princess cake (for the girls in case they are scared of bionicles).
2:30 Woke Ariel up. She was in a very happy mood. And it was nice that the rain finally broke so we didn't have to pick up Alex in a downpour.
Gabriel came home with us for a playdate. Here was the view from Alex's school. The foothills got a little snow but we didn't get any down here.

While the boys played with bionicles inside, Ariel and I did some weeding. When I was weeding in the front yard I noticed this on the spruce by our big rock:

Ugh. It's one of those things you look at and know it can't be good. There's about 20 on the tree and after much googling it appears to be cedar-apple rust. It gives me the hebegebes.
4:30 Pick up. Of note - no accidents today. Whew.

Lesson NOT learned. She kicked off her boots on the drive home. Luckily she did not hit me OR herself.
*sigh*
(the story about the cakes was cute)
