May 8, 2008

7:15 Drop off. Breakfast - bogurt and cheerios. Ariel asked for oatmeal too but lately she only takes a bite so I didn't make her any.

9:15 Super duper fun bike ride. Today we did a clockwise loop of Boulder, a bit longer than Tuesday. And today I learned that the Ariel and Alex can tolerate the trailer for 55 minutes. After that they fight like cats. Alex kept saying that Ariel's butt was poking him and Ariel kept yelling back and there was much screaming. But I have a plan for next week. I think that if I actually gave them some snacks and then stopped by a park near home to do strength training and stretching, they would be ok. Or more ok. After all, Ariel was pretty cute while she was happy. She wore a jersey again (and asked, "Where Alex's jersey?") and told the oncoming bikes, "Hello! I go for bike ride!" And, we didn't get rained on, which was nice. Though that would have given the kids something to really cry about.

10:30 Got home, did my strength training with my personal trainer, Ariel. She counted my reps for me, which would have been more helpful if she could count past 8 without repeating it several times. And then she laid under my butt while I did tricep dips so in effect I sat on her 50 times. And then she stretched with me ("Dee-Dee, touch your toes!"). Alex sulked in his room.

10:50 Lunch. Ariel had grapes, cheerios and string cheese.

11:30 Rode bikes to pick up Adam.

11:50 Got home. Ariel went down for a nap. And after Adam and I ate lunch and showered, we went down for a nap too.

2:30 Had to wake everyone up. Ariel was fine because I told her there was a party at Alex's school. Adam was not as fine.

2:45 Literacy "carnival" at Alex's school. We (adults) learned how to help kids read this summer while others (kids) colored their own take-home books. Ariel colored for a bit and then explored many kindergarten toys. After the talk (this part was in Alex's room) Alex, Adam and Ariel hung out playing for a while longer. There were more activities in the library but it was also much more crowded. Ariel really liked the old analog telephones and the little stove/sink/kitchen area. Alex and Adam built stuff out of building parts. I don't know what kind they were. They looked a little like Grammie's hair rollers but smaller.

4:00 Got home. Adam and Ariel wanted to draw with their new pencils but as soon as Ariel saw her leftover cheerios she just had a snack.

4:30 Pick up.

No pictures today, so here are some after hours pictures:

Adam, preforming his usual dinner play of "how many beans to I have to eat to get a popsicle?" Jeremy and I are so sick of it that we won't even talk to Adam about it. And Adam does not like to be ignored:

And Alex, already outside and already done with his popsicle (and ALL his beans and ALL his rice and ALL his tomatoes and ALL his cauliflower and his bonus tortilla with peanut butter and honey. To give you an idea of how long Adam has been bargaining):

Gavin does the bargaining thing big time too. We hate it. (Oops a pepper word!)Why does filling your stomach have to be so hard for home children?

I mean SOME children... Not home children. :-)

Ariel is actually ALMOST past bargaining on most things. She knows she doesn't get milk OR dessert unless she eats her food. She still struggles if she has a snack too late though.
